How it works

• Open Countries and pick from the eight largest economies up front, or filter the full list by name or region. Every country resolves by ISO code, so /apps/countries/jpn and /apps/countries/japan both work.
• The two headline charts plot GDP and population across the last ten years. In comparison mode both countries share one year axis, so series with different coverage still line up honestly instead of being stretched to fit.
• The indicator grid shows the most recent reading for each of seventeen World Bank series, with its year beside it. Coverage is genuinely uneven - some countries lag two years on unemployment and a decade on the Gini index - so a missing figure renders as a dash rather than an interpolated guess.
• The largest-companies panel fills in a moment after the page loads, because it comes from Wikidata's query service and that is far too slow to wait on. Wikidata's revenue coverage varies a lot by country, so the panel names its source, dates every figure, and links each company to its record.
