Ivy Tech seeks qualified adjunct faculty to supplement the Surgical Technology instruction needs of our students at the Evansville, IN campus. This is an in person role based on the Evansville, IN campus. Students in this program may go on to work in Hospitals, Surgery Centers, Specialized Surgeon Offices, or in Medical Sales.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

Major Responsibilities

Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.

PROGRAM OPERATION

This role teaches in off site in hospitals and surgery centers as well as on site lectures. Traveling site to site is required.

Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.

Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.

Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.

Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS

Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.

Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION

Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.

In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Hiring Range

$45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).

Work Hours

This class is scheduled to run during the second fall term beginning on October 26th, 2026. These classes run 2 days a week 6 hours per day daytime clinical days beginning at 6am to 3 pm.

Minimum Qualifications

AAS or higher from accredited institution

Possesses a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)

Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.

Must be located to teach in-person at the Evansville, IN campus

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as faculty in higher education.
