Area Head of ATR & Financial Controlling, WAF
Job Purpose / SummaryWe are currently seeking an experienced leader to head the Accounting to Reporting (ATR) function for the WAF region within the Global Shared Service Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end ATR service delivery, ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, and process excellence across entities in scope.The role will ensure compliance with IFRS and OHADA GAAP standards, drive strong internal controls, lead transformation initiatives including NFTP implementation, and act as a key finance partner to Area Finance leadership. The individual will play a critical role in strengthening governance, improving reporting quality, and driving top-quartile engagement and performance within the ATR team.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn end-to-end ATR service delivery for WAF stakeholder group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and complianceEnsure financial data integrity of books of accounts, including periodic GL scrutiny and accuracy reviewsReview Trial Balance as part of monthly book close and ensure correct financial reportingReview monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations and proactively identify financial exposuresReview monthly NOPAT and provide detailed explanations for significant variancesStrengthen process controls and compliance execution in line with global standardsEnsure compliance with IFRS and OHADA GAAP requirementsSupport and manage all audits (Statutory, Tax, Government, Internal, etc.)Drive NFTP implementation and enhancements for WAF entities as per project roadmapParticipate in global/regional finance transformation initiativesChallenge existing standards to drive efficiencies and continuous improvementLead, coach, and develop the ATR team; drive engagement, conduct MPACT conversations, and support career progressionFacilitate functional and technical training including OHADA and French language capability buildingPrimary Internal StakeholdersArea Head of Finance / Area Finance ControllerRegional Controller / Regional Controlling teamsArea Finance Business Partners (FBP)BCO & FinOps teams, TreasuryArea Leads – OTC & PTPATR HQ / CoE teamsGRC / Internal AuditExternal Stakeholders:Statutory AuditorsTax ConsultantsRegulatory Authorities (as applicable)Required Qualifications, Experience & SkillsEducation & ExperienceProfessionally qualified – CA / CPA / CMA / ACCA or equivalent12–15 years of experience in core accounting and reporting rolesStrong knowledge of IFRS and OHADA GAAPProven experience in managing audits and regulatory complianceExperience managing senior stakeholders and explaining financial data to non-finance audiencesDemonstrated leadership experience managing teams through transformationKey SkillsStrong financial acumen and analytical capabilityDeep understanding of compliance and governance frameworksAbility to influence and collaborate cross-functionally in a matrix organizationStrong stakeholder management and communication skillsHigh attention to detail and comm...
