Job Summary: The Area Manager for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) is responsible for complete facility management of 8 buildings, 225,000 square feet and a budget of 2.6 million. The building portfolio includes graduate dormitories, administrative offices, library collections and a dining facility. Job-Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for all facilities operations including: Oversees the maintenance & operations of the facilities to provide a safe home for graduate and undergraduate students. Regularly interacts with student residents, faculty, and staff responding to occupant building problems/requests promptly and resolving them quickly. Responsible for budget management, vendor selection, & managing relationships with many Harvard departments.Directs day-to-day activity of custodial staff, building trades, & contractors to assure timely and cost-effective completion of work.Maintains the security of the buildings through proper attention to access control, security procedures and the condition of locking devices.Reviews computer-based HVAC, security and fire systems, monitors safety compliance, coordinates inspections and ensures compliance with codes & regulations.Works closely with OPRP and Harvard University Office for Sustainability staff to implement best operations and maintenance practices, and to actively participate in FAS greenhouse gas and energy reduction efforts and goals for House.
