Discover TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre. We are a publicly funded, not-for-profit research lab that is a hub for discovery and innovation. Our mission is to serve as Canada’s particle accelerator centre.  We advance isotope science and technology, both fundamental and applied.  We collaborate across communities and disciplines, from nuclear and particle physics to the life and material sciences.  We discover and innovate, inspire and educate, creating knowledge and opportunity for all.TRIUMF's diverse community of nearly 600 multidisciplinary researchers, engineers, technicians, tradespeople, staff, and students create a unique incubator for Canadian excellence, as well as a portal to premier global collaborations.  Fueling innovation and improving lives, we are committed to accelerating discovery and shaping a better world. We are currently recruiting a Physicist whose ultimate primary responsibility will be to plan and set-up experiments within these facilities. The Physicist will work in tandem with other specialists and facility personnel to ensure the success of the rare-isotope science program at TRIUMF, and will manage, maintain, operate, and troubleshoot measurements with a wide assortment of detectors, readout electronics, and data acquisition systems.RESPONSIBILITIES:Liaise  with external users in the nuclear physics experimental program, assisting with the preparation and operation of experimentsUnder the direction of the supervisor, plan and set-up experiments within the nuclear physics experimental research programMaintain, operate, repair, and plan the deployment of a suite of nuclear physics detectors within the ARIEL program.Work with various departments in Physical Science Division, providing experiment-specific training as required through written documents, on-the-job training, and input and advice for planning experimental campaignsPerform light industrial, mechanical and electrical tasks as required, and performing all work safely and efficientlyProcure, monitor and manage the budget for the inventory of tools, spare parts, etc. needed for associated tasksPlan, organize and effectively manage all tasks and project workAssist in preparing experimental safety reportsSUPERVISION EXERCISED:Expected to provide guidance and assistance to more junior employees across multiple teamsMay provide guidance to studentsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Advanced level knowledge of nuclear physicsDemonstrated knowledge of a variety of nuclear physics detectors, techniques, and simulationsExcellent oral and written communication skills in English.Demonstrated interpersonal skillsDemonstrated proficiency in planning, organization, and efficient time management.Experience with signal processing and data acquisition systems would be an assetExperience working with HV and UHV systems would be an assetExperience with CAD would be an assetProgramming experience in C++/ ROOT would be an assetNUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:The...
