Working hand-in-hand with Finance, Operations and teams across GFG, Commercial helps bring our strategy to life — ensuring we make smart decisions, forecast accurately and deliver the future of fashion, every day. We are currently looking for a Assistant Designer to join our own brand team. Reporting into our Own Brand Buying Manager, this role is essential in driving the conception and development of all product in your allocated category by always driving innovation & creativity. About the role: Understand and drive company wide strategies and OKR’s. Maintain a close link with manufacturers to ensure seamless handover of developments, taking direct accountability for making sure all sample technical packs submitted are accurate, completed and submitted in line with set timeframes Communicate regularly with the Design Team to ensure any critical design issues or developments are highlighted and resolved when required Select, develop, and source fabrications, colours, trims etc. in line with company standards Attends fit sessions and uses technical ability to ensure best fit is achieved and approve final samples with GT when required Support with sample management, Tech packs and Tech Drawing Support with trend forecasting Approve all details of final product in line with original design brief Understands the manufacturing structure of the supplier’s business in order to recognise cost & manufacturing opportunities for every design submitted Participating in range planning meetings to ensure the range is balanced in styling, colour and fabrications.   Ensuring range boards are up to date and planned accordingly What it takes Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a design team with Product Development or Design. Experience with Print, Fabric and trim development Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong trend forecasting skills with a commercial eye for fashion Ability to time manage work load in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasks effectively Proficient in illustrator and photoshop would be advantageous Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
