For salaried student positions, contact the department for pay information.Duration of AppointmentAcademic YearMaximum Scheduled Weekly Hours1Job Description SummaryTo instruct basic skating techniques to various levels of our Learn to Skate program and help foster an appreciation for skating to the program participants.This position is an integral part to the success of our Learn to Skate program.Job DescriptionEssential DutiesPrepare and administer instruction to participants in the Learn to Skate program.Provide a learning environment that is engaging and encouraging.Participants are expected to advance through the progression of lessons by fully grasping and demonstrating the elements of each course.Work performed is highly complex, requiring a deep understanding of ice skating fundamentals and techniques.Classes meet 2-3 times a week for approximately 1 hour or 1.5 hours each day.Class sizes range from 6-12 per instructor.Requires extensive training and proof of level certification by the national governing skating body, USFS.Provide supervisory functions including, but not limited to, scheduling, determining training needs, preparing training materials, and conducting training sessions.Demonstrate evidence of advanced technical and customer support leadership, skills in mentoring, training, expert course management.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities5+ years competitive ice skating experience.Understanding of ice skating fundamentals and techniques.Extensive training and proof of level certification by the national governing skating body (USFS).
