This position is non-tenure track with starting level commensurate with experience. Based on their skill set, this person will primarily assist in a variety of teaching and examination activities including laboratory sessions in clinical skills, anesthesia/surgical skills, and communication skills, facilitation of small student groups in problem-based learning courses, and OSCE assessments. Expectation for more lead instructor roles and responsibilities within lab topics will be encouraged over time. Additionally, this employee will participate in outreach opportunities for LSU Vet Med relevant to these primary facets of their position.Opportunities for involvement in clinical education, classroom education, and research may be considered dependent on the need of the veterinary teaching hospital, pre-clinical curricular program, and available time in the employee's schedule that does not interfere with the primary responsibilities of this position.Job Responsibilities:70%- Provide instruction in clinical and surgical skills laboratories across years 1-4 in the DVM program, including supervising veterinary students in pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care of live animals.10%- Facilitate small-group sessions in communication skills labs and problem-based learning across years 1-3 in the DVM program.10%- Participate in objective structured clinical skills examinations (OSCEs) as an examiner, animal handler, and/or assistant.5%- Support the development and maintenance of relevant low fidelity models used in clinical and surgical skills labs.4%- Other duties as assigned.1%- Drive university vehicles to collect program donations and move program assets to/from outreach events.Minimum Qualifications:Assistant Professor: DVM or equivalent degree; three years of veterinary clinical practice experience.Associate Professor: DVM or equivalent degree; five years of academic experience in veterinary education AND veterinary clinical practice experience, with internal review by LSU for relevant qualifications.Minimum Certifications/Licenses:Ability to acquire a faculty or full veterinary license in the state of Louisian...
