This role sits at the intersection of two high-priority practice areas: employee benefits and ERISA compliance. You will serve as a trusted legal advisor to multiple business units, providing practical, solutions-oriented counsel on complex regulatory and transactional matters. In this role, you will: Act as Lead ERISA & employee benefits attorney Advice on ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA compliance with respect to HRA and other plan designs and claims processing in the US Negotiate BAA and review HRA, adoption assistance, gestational surrogacy and other benefit plan documents Provide strategic advice and counsel to Carrot regarding new product offerings, state and federal taxation, compliance, privacy, implementation of products, fiduciary obligations and state regulations on reproductive care Monitor regulatory developments from the DOL, IRS, and HHS and provide proactive guidance on emerging ERISA compliance obligations. Contribute broadly across the Legal function Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, HR, Product, Sales, Customer Success and Operations to identify and mitigate legal risk. Manage outside counsel relationships for ERISA related issues Contribute to the development of legal department processes, templates, and training programs. Provide legal support on other projects and matters as assigned by the General Counsel.
