Purpose of the Role: As the Associate Machine Designer, you will support Svante’s engineering teams in the design and development of commercial-scale carbon-capture machines, working across machine structure, sealing, and powertrain functions. You will help translate engineering concepts into detailed designs by creating 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and supporting documentation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality design outputs within project timelines while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of CAD and product data. This is a 9-month temporary position with the potential to become permanent based on performance and is an excellent opportunity for a design and drafting professional looking to develop their expertise in mechanical design, CAD, PLM, and design for manufacturing within an innovative clean technology environment. Required Skills and Qualifications: You have a diploma from an accredited technical college in drafting, CAD, or mechanical technology, or a degree from an accredited university in engineering, along with 5–8 years of experience in a manufacturing or product development environment. You have 2–3 years of hands-on experience with Creo Parametric and demonstrated ability to create accurate 3D CAD models, detailed design drawings, and supporting engineering documentation. You have 2–3 years of experience working with a PDM/PLM system and a strong understanding of CAD data management and product data integrity. You have good knowledge of mechanical and structural design, drafting practices, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and common manufacturing processes such as machining and welding. You have strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple functional teams while demonstrating initiative and alignment with Svante’s values. What Success Looks Like in This Role: You will consistently deliver accurate 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and supporting documentation within agreed project timelines and quality requirements. You will collaborate effectively with machine structure, sealing, powertrain, and other functional teams to translate engineering concepts into detailed and manufacturable designs.
