Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, invites applications for AV/IT Systems Specialist, Information Technology [R0153764].
ROLE of the POSITION
Reporting to the Manager of Classroom Technology Services, the AV/IT Systems Specialist is responsible for ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and operation of audio-visual (AV) solutions in classrooms, conference rooms, and other campus spaces. The role involves assessing user needs, determining hardware and software specifications, designing AV enabled spaces, developing timelines and prototypes, working with vendors, purchasing hardware and software systems, managing installations, assisting with systems programming and providing excellent customer support.
Responsibilities include managing the integration of technology in the new construction and remodel of university learning spaces or AV enabled facilities. The AV/IT Systems Specialist, will consult with various stakeholders to determine facilities programming, and will then work with the Planning and Construction department, as well as project architects, general and sub-contractors, Audio Video (AV) integrators, and Office of Information Technology (OIT) stakeholders to ensure technology is appropriately integrated into the facilities until project completion. This person will stay abreast of the latest developments in regards to classroom technology, and will work closely with faculty in assuring new facilities are designed to meet their pedagogical needs. Customer Service Expectations: This position is responsible for maintaining a customer-focused approach in all duties, ensuring professional, timely, and effective interactions with internal and external stakeholders. BACKGROUND SCREENING

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
- 2–4 years of professional experience in AV/IT systems, classroom technology, instructional technology, or related field.
- Certification(s):
- AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
ACCEPTED EQUIVALENCIES FOR DEGREE REQUIREMENT
UNLV may consider additional relevant experience in place of formal education requirements:
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, applicants may qualify with four additional years of relevant experience, or with an associate's degree plus two additional years of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five or more years of professional experience, preferably in higher education, including the design, installation, maintenance, and operation of audio-visual solutions in classrooms, conference rooms, and technology-enabled learning spaces.
- Experience managing AV projects associated with new construction and renovations.
- Experience developing classroom technology standards and collaborating with architects, contractors, and AV integrators.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
The incumbent must have specific knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
KNOWLEDGE
Required
- Proficient knowledge of AV/IT systems and designs including: AV control platforms (Crestron, Extron, Etc.) video distribution via IP protocols, lecture capture (Panopto), web-conferencing tools (Zoom)
- Strong knowledge of AV systems and AV line drawings
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques and interpretation of construction drawings
- Knowledge of network protocols and configurations to improve collaboration between AV, IT, and facilities teams
- Experience working with an enterprise help support ticketing system
Preferred
- Experience with Jetbuilt preferred
- Experience with Talem3 preferred
SKILLS
Required
- Capability to handle direct communication with a high level of professionalism, both electronically and in person
- Communicate with customers as it relates to project fulfillment
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment that varies daily.
- Ability to work with other teams to request support of or lend support; look for opportunities for improvements and unresolved challenges.
- Ability to keep meticulous records of customer interactions, actions taken and issue resolution.
Preferred
- Experience using drawing tools such as AutoCAD and/or Visio preferred

SALARY
The salary range for this role is $80,100 - $87,400. Unable to offer more than stated salary range.
