Our office assistants will work 7 hours a week in-person, and must have a federal work study award. Office assistants act as the first line of greeting and directing those looking to connect with our office, so will become familiar with our programs and staff.Essential Functions:Respond to inquiries submitted to CLCE via central email.Answer phones and greet visitors.Check office voicemail system.Assist in the coordination of One-Day Service Events: MLK Day of Service, Read Your World Day, ext.Table at various events.Assist in updating contact information and outreach to nonprofit partners.Assist in setting up CLCE events.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:Part-time.7 hours per week.Salary Range:$18.40 per hour.Required Education and Experience:Federal Work Study eligibility.Administrative tasks (answering phones, filing, and organization).Customer service experience.Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Strong organizational skills.Ability to work 7 hours/week, based upon award.Preferred Education and Experience:Familiarity with community service work or CLCE’s programming.Experience with databases.Internet/Web research.Graphic design/social media experience.Additional Eligibility Qualifications:This position is restricted to Federal Work Study students.Pay is DC minimum wage.Start date is beginning of Fall semester.Other DetailsThis position is available only to enrolled American University students.Please note this job announcement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
