Position Summary

Respiratory Therapists at West Park Healthcare Centre provide respiratory therapy service 24/7 to patients throughout the Hospital. As the Charge Therapist you will be responsible to supervise staff and provide leadership to ensure operational safety and continuity.

Duties

  • Supervising, organizing, assigning and distributing workload among assigned staff to ensure the department operates in a manner that is efficient and effective.
  • Coaching and mentoring assigned staff and students to foster a positive atmosphere that supports team building, collaboration and shared learning.
  • Performing administrative responsibilities to facilitate improving processes/procedures.
  • Participating in professional development, teaching/educational activities, safety and quality improvement initiatives to ensure excellence in the provision of services.
  • Managing and maintaining equipment.
  • Overseeing equipment and supply purchases.
  • Communicating and disseminating relevant information to team members and management personnel, in a timely and consistent manner
  • Observing, understanding and ensuring compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Performing cross-functional responsibilities as assigned, or requested.
  • Performing other duties related to the job classification, as required.
  • Assisting with airway management.
  • Responding to all cardiac and respiratory arrests, code blues, and rapid responses.
