Cook 2 Job Description
The Role
A Cook 2 is responsible for preparing, executing, and delivering high-quality, safely handled food in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all menu items are cooked according to specifications and delivered promptly to the front-of-house staff for service. A Cook 2 must consistently uphold food safety standards, maintain cleanliness, and work efficiently as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for cooking and plating menu items to recipe specifications in a timely and consistent manner.
- Ensure all food is handled, prepared, and stored in accordance with food safety guidelines.
- Set up and break down assigned station, including prepping ingredients, stocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Follow First In First Out (FIFO) protocols when handling and storing food products.
- Ensure all items are labeled and dated properly upon receiving and during storage.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary kitchen work environment, including coolers, storage areas, and prep spaces.
- Work closely with chefs, sous chefs, and front-of-house staff to ensure food is delivered promptly and correctly.
- Stay informed about daily specials and all items on the menu.
- Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries; report any quality or inventory concerns to supervisors.
- Carry out opening and closing kitchen duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all Legends’ safety and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures.
- Remain calm and focused under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Be flexible with scheduling needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; culinary school or culinary certificate preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience as a Line Cook in a high-volume restaurant, event venue, or similar setting.
- Must have a strong understanding of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety procedures.
- Proactive, organized, and able to multitask in a high-pressure environment.
- Must have strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to quality and teamwork.
- Able to stand for long periods, walk quickly, lift up to 30 pounds, bend, and work in close quarters.
- Ability to read and understand prep lists, menus, recipes, and signage in English.
- Must maintain a clean and professional appearance and observe good personal hygiene at all times.
- ServSafe or other food handler certification required.

Compensation
- Pay Rate - starting at $22.40 per hour
