Corporate Development Manager
Established in 1997, Sony Music Entertainment is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, Japan, with a presence in over 100 countries through our affiliates. We have nurtured some of music's most iconic artists and produced some of the most influential recordings of all time. Sony Music's Corporate Development team for Asia & the Middle East works across some of the highest-growth music markets in the world, and has been behind many of the region's most significant transactions. Our work spans M&A and minority investments in music and entertainment businesses, music IP catalogue acquisitions, and strategic joint ventures. We're seeking a highly analytical Manager to join us, reporting to the VP, Corporate Development, Asia & Middle East. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in financial modeling, commercial analysis, and deal execution, with a genuine interest in music, entertainment, and media. What you will do: Financial Modeling: Build and own the financial models underpinning valuation and deal structuring. Commercial Analysis: Conduct industry and competitor analysis to evaluate potential acquisition and investment targets, joint ventures, and strategic initiatives. Due Diligence: Participate in all aspects of due diligence, including financial, tax, legal, and operational; coordinate with external advisors and cross-functional teams across Asia, London, and New York. Deal Execution: Support the end-to-end deal process from initial assessment through closing. Presentation: Draft investment memos to communicate with senior management, crafting compelling stories and presentations that convey complex information clearly and persuasively. Internal Reporting: Maintain the regional deal pipeline and report on the performance of completed investments against the original investment thesis. Who you are: Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, engineering, or a quantitative discipline. MBA, CFA, or an equivalent advanced credential is a plus. Minimum of five years' experience in corporate development, deal advisory, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or a similar analytical role. Exceptional analytical skills, with strong proficiency in financial modeling and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Comfortable working with large datasets, such as digital sales and streaming reports, to support deal analysis. Advanced Excel is essential; Python, SQL, or experience using AI/LLM tools to accelerate analysis is a plus. Ability to craft compelling stories and presentations to convey complex information clearly and persuasively. Fluency in English; another Southeast Asian language is a bonus. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Passionate about the music, entertainment, and media sector.
