We are seeking a Director of Critical Utilities and Facility Management to join our Facilities and Engineering team, supporting our campus Central Utility Plant and MEP operations in an on-site work model. In this role, you will safeguard the reliability, safety, and compliance of our electricity, chilled water, steam, and emergency power systems, ensuring uninterrupted service for 24/7 research and operational needs while collaborating with Engineering, EH&S, and Business Resilience teams.This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing, science-driven organization making a meaningful difference to patients worldwide.When & where:Location: Tarrytown, NYWork model/flexibility: OnsiteDiscover your role:Develop and implement long-term operational strategies for Critical Utilities and Facilities Maintenance programs across a complex pharmaceutical/biotech campus.Lead organizational development efforts, including team structure design, workforce planning, and operational model optimization across internal staff and outsourced providers.Establish and continuously improve maintenance, reliability, and capital planning programs to strengthen system performance, resiliency, and compliance.Provide executive oversight of Central Utility Plant and Powerhouse operations, partnering with operational leadership to ensure safe, uninterrupted utility delivery.Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, R&D Operations, EH&S, Quality, Procurement, and Capital Projects teams to support infrastructure initiatives and campus growth.Drive governance, performance management, and strategic vendor oversight, including metrics development, operational reviews, budget planning, and risk mitigation.This role requires:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Power, Marine, or Energy Engineering, or 15 years of equivalent experience (Navy Nuclear Power School plus 10 years accepted).10+ years leading central utility or power-plant operations (chilled water, steam, emergency power) within a hybrid facility management model, plus strong contract-management and vendor-governance skills.Proficiency with building automation system (BAS) platforms, such as Metasys, EcoStruxure, or Desigo.Proven team-leadership abilities across internal staff and outsourced providers.A valid NYS driver's license to support up to 25% travel.Turning maintenance data into actionable reliability improvements.Holding rigorous safety and regulatory standards in high-risk environments.Communicating clearly with researchers, engineers, and executives, and being flexible with travelMotivating and coordinating a mixed team of internal technicians, union trades, and third-party providers.Balancing hands-on problem solving with strategic planning, budgeting, and long-range asset management.Keeping utility plants, chillers, boil...
