Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting
The Basics: The Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting, serves as a key leader overseeing the company's technical accounting and financial reporting functions, while acting as a critical cross-functional partner across finance, tax, legal, and the broader organization. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of U.S. GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures, maintaining corporate accounting policies, and interpreting the impact of evolving FASB and SEC pronouncements. By engaging closely with external auditors, internal stakeholders, and leadership, this leader will drive audit readiness, support special projects such as IPO readiness, and leverage AI tools to continuously improve reporting processes. This leader will lead a high-performing team, cultivate strong cross-departmental relationships, and champion operational excellence to manage risk and support business growth across the enterprise. This position follows the Company’s hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA. What you’ll do: Manage, mentor, and lead 2 team members covering the Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting functions, ensuring accurate and timely execution of all related business and accounting operations. Own the end-to-end preparation and execution of the company’s U.S. GAAP financial statements and accompanying footnote disclosures Stay current on FASB and SEC pronouncements and interpret impact to the company in partnership with internal partners and external auditors and identify, research, and prepare technical memoranda for complex transactions Develop, maintain, and update corporate accounting policies to ensure global consistency and compliance with US GAAP Manage all non-revenue technical accounting requirements for the company, including leasing, capitalized internal-use software, investments, EPS, and FX risk management programs for the company’s multi-currency operations Partner with accounting leadership to establish, implement, and continuously evolve a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance framework, including risk assessment, control design, documentation, testing, remediation, and optimization as the company scales. Serve as a key liaison for external auditors, ensuring all deliverables are provided timely and resolving any audit inquiries. Manage the quarterly 409A valuation process Drive special projects as they arise, such as implementing new accounting standards, IPO readiness, system migrations, and process automation. Embrace and leverage AI tools to drive process and reporting efficiencies / optimization.
