Epidemiologists In the midst of an outbreak, our project teams rely on our epidemiologists to determine the spread and speed of a disease, as well as strategies for containment. Responsibilities As an epidemiologist working with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), you will coordinate the collection of epidemiological data, including active case findings, during disease outbreaks. You will also set up and evaluate surveys and surveillance systems, supervise and train staff, and support policy development. As an epidemiologist, you will help plan the response during a disease outbreak, including participating in active case finding and planning vaccination campaigns as well as water and sanitation interventions. You will also conduct mortality surveys, evaluate and set up surveillance systems, and offer other epidemiological support to strengthen evidence-based decision-making. Requirements Available for a minimum of 9 to 12 month assignments Master's degree in epidemiology or master's degree in public health with an epidemiological focus Previous experience in a low resource setting (priority given to those with experience working in a humanitarian context) Minimum of two years relevant professional experience post-training Professional experience supervising, managing, or training staff Proven practical skills in the design, implementation, and evaluation of surveys, and in quantitative/qualitative research methods Ability to launch surveillance systems, conduct trainings, and plan campaigns, such as those to combat epidemics or malnutrition Experience with relevant software Ability to work within a diverse team Assets French or Arabic language (B2 or above) Familiarity with tropical and/or infectious diseases (especially HIV/AIDS, TB) Experience with rapid assessments Medical degree Before you apply As you consider applying to undertake an MSF assignment, it is e...
