Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) delivers world-class science supported by a complex and highly specialized infrastructure. The Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) Division, within the Facilities & Operations Directorate, plays a critical role in ensuring that this infrastructure is safe, reliable, efficient, and ready to support the Laboratory’s scientific mission.
Through a facility management model built around dedicated Facilities Project Managers, IFM proactively manages, maintains, and prepares BNL facilities and infrastructure to meet current operational needs while anticipating future requirements. Our team works in close partnership with scientists, engineers, operations personnel, crafts, contractors, and other stakeholders to keep facilities safe, compliant, reliable, and mission ready.
Position Description
The Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) Division, within the Facilities and Operations Directorate, is seeking a Facilities Project Manager to report directly to the IFM Division Manager.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in the day-to-day maintenance and operation of facilities, paired with excellent customer service and organizational skills. This role requires the ability to manage multiple buildings and associated assets, prioritize competing demands, and maintain a high level of attention to details. In this role, you will collaborate with professionals across scientific and engineering disciplines, solve meaningful operational challenges, and directly contribute to the reliability and readiness of infrastructure supporting Brookhaven’s research mission.
This position reports to the Facility Complex Management Manager. The hours of operation for this position are Monday- Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facility & Customer Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with building occupants and key points of contact.
- Identify, document, prioritize, track, and follow through on facility deficiencies, maintenance requirements, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct regular meetings with tenants to address operational needs and concerns.
- Ensure facilities are operated in compliance with laboratory regulations and best practices, while supporting tenant needs.
- Perform regular facility walkthroughs based on building needs and operational requirements.
- Champion and coordinate responses to facility-related requests.
- Support building occupants in maintaining appropriate Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H), housekeeping, and operational standards.

- Serve as project lead and primary point of contact for all work performed within assigned facilities, including contractor and vendor activities.
