About the Role: The HR Operations Specialist plays a key role in supporting core HR processes and programs at Appian, with a primary focus on onboarding, employee data management, and operational support across the employee lifecycle. This role ensures a smooth employee experience while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in HR systems and procedures. The role will be based in Chennai, India but will primarily support HR Operations in North America and provide support in our other regions as needed. This position requires flexible working hours to support global operations across multiple time zones. The primary schedule for this role will be 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Key Responsibilities: Support the North America onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a seamless and positive employee experience. Complete Form I-9 processing, verify supporting documentation, and monitor compliance with federal I-9 requirements. Conduct and review background checks for North American employees in accordance with company policies and compliance standards. Manage the global new hire swag program. Assist with processing voluntary and involuntary terminations across North America, including the administration of U.S. unemployment claims. Process employee lifecycle transactions in Workday, including hires, job changes, transfers, and terminations, ensuring data accuracy and timely completion. Prepare and distribute employee correspondence and documentation, including job change letters and other employment-related communications. Administer and support key HR Operations programs. Support employment verification requests and maintain accurate employee records. Respond to employee and stakeholder inquiries received through the HR inbox, ticketing systems, and other support channels, providing timely and customer-focused service. Partner with cross-functional teams, including Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Benefits, and HR Business Partners, to support operational processes and resolve employee issues. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to HR Operations initiatives and projects as needed. Experience / Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. 1–2 years of experience in Human Resources, HR Operations, Employee Services, or a related function.
