Role Overview:  The IT Server Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s server infrastructure—both on-premises and in the cloud. This role ensures system availability, performance, and security for mission-critical applications, patient management systems, and business operations across multiple dental practices.   Responsibilities  Hyper-V Administration Lead and support cloud migration initiatives, including planning, execution, and post-migration optimization across platforms such as Azure, AWS, or hybrid Virtualization Platform Management Design, implement, and support cloud-based infrastructure solutions, including virtual machines, storage, identity integration, backup, and disaster recovery Manage multiple infrastructure projects simultaneously, balancing operational support with strategic initiatives while meeting defined deadlines and service-level expectations. Support the development and implementation of future server technology initiatives, including infrastructure modernization, virtualization upgrades, and automation-driven improvements. Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (PowerShell, Bash, or similar) to streamline server provisioning patch management, monitoring, and routine administrative Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure performance, scalability, and reliability through automation and process optimization. Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve complex server, virtualization, storage, and operating system issues across on-premises and cloud Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with organizational standards, security requirements, and compliance frameworks. Proactively evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations that support long-term infrastructure growth and efficiency. Maintain accurate documentation for server builds, configurations, change management, and disaster recovery     Requirements  Ability to work independently Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required  8+ years of IT experience  3-5+ years of experience with Data Center infrastructure and virtualization technologies  Expert working knowledge of virtualization technologies  Administration experience with Microsoft OS, Citrix, VMWare, Unix, and Linux technologies  Administration experience with Microsoft technologies such as Sharepoint, Active Directory, and Exchange  Good documentation skills in a large scale environment  Powershell Scripting Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Datto, Acronis) Knowledge of IT security best practices and regulatory requirements (HIPAA a plus) Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills Certifications preferred: MCSA, MCSE, VMware VCP, or related Proven custome...
