During the more than 220 years since then, we’ve been working to improve the health and well-being of Baltimore residents. The Health Department has a wide-ranging area of responsibility, including acute communicable diseases, animal control, chronic disease prevention, emergency preparedness, HIV/STD, maternal-child health, restaurant inspections, school health, senior services, and youth violence issues. The agency includes a workforce of approximately 800 employees and has a budget of approximately $208 million.The Baltimore City Health Department is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual for the role of Local Health Improvement Coalition Director. This person will report to the Chief Policy and Strategy Officer and oversee the Local Health Improvement Coalition (LHIC) and various community health projects. The LHIC is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of our community through collaborative efforts and evidence-based strategies. The LHIC Director will play a pivotal role in guiding the coalition's activities, fostering partnerships, and implementing initiatives to address key health issues. The LHIC re-launched in 2021 and is composed of 120+ community, nonprofit, healthcare, and government members. The LHIC is at a critical and exciting point.
