Materials Controller
Job Description Summary
Based at the Dogger Bank wind farm's onshore base, you will play a key role in supporting the planned and reactive maintenance of GE's Haliade-X offshore wind turbines by coordinating the direct materials and parts needed to keep operations running safely and efficiently. You will act as a hands-on, data-driven problem solver, ensuring materials are available where and when they are needed through effective tracking, control and coordination. Working closely with engineering, planning, supply chain and warehouse teams, as well as external suppliers and logistics partners, you will support work order fulfilment, inventory accuracy and the forward planning of material requirements. > > If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment — and you are confident extracting, analysing and acting on data to ensure the right parts are in the right place at the right time — this is a role where your contribution will have a direct and visible impact on the performance of one of the world's most significant offshore wind programmes.
Job Description
- Coordinate the day-to-day supply of parts and direct materials needed to support the maintenance of GE’s Haliade-X wind turbine generators.
- Coordinate the movement of materials, including deliveries, collections and repairable items, across the central warehouse, onshore base and offshore locations.
- Work closely with Logistics, Warehousing, Sourcing, Planning and Engineering teams to ensure materials are delivered on time and to the required standard.
- Manage inventory at the O&M base, maintaining accurate stock records and effective control of parts and materials.
- Carry out regular stock checks and audits to ensure physical inventory aligns with system records and discrepancies are identified and resolved.
- Support forecasting and forward planning of material and parts requirements in line with planned and reactive maintenance activity.
- Maintain accurate documentation and system records relating to stock, material movements, orders and inventory status.
- Work closely with Logistics, Warehousing, Sourcing, Planning and Engineering internal teams — managing competing priorities and working under pressure to tight deadlines — to ensure materials are delivered on time and to the required standard, with particular focus on vessel loading windows for scheduled offshore maintenance.
- Support the management of damaged parts, returns and material-related quality issues, working with relevant teams to resolve issues effectively.
- Ensure all material coordination activities are carried out in line with relevant processes, controls, quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve material control, stock accuracy and day-to-day material flow across site operations.
Essential
- Experience in materials management, parts coordination, inventory control or supply chain support within a manufacturing, automotive, engineering, warehouse or similarly fast-paced environment.
- Experience in materials planning, inventory control or supply chain coordination within a maintenance-related environment.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, inventory management and logistics coordination.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential — you must be confident working with pivot tables to extract, analyse data from multiple sources.
- Experience using ERP systems, warehouse management systems or material tracking tools to manage stock, materials or order-related activity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organised and work to tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- A proactive and methodical approach, with strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills.
- Confidence to work independently, use initiative and prioritise competing requirements.
- Ability to work on site Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a flexible approach and willingness to support wider operational requirements when needed.
Desirable
- Experience using ServiceMax software or SAP
- Experience in sectors such as manufacturing, automotive or field service.
- Experience managing damaged parts, returns or material-related quality issues.
- Exposure to forecasting, demand planning or stock consumption analysis.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, offshore operations or wind industry environments.
