The Medical Assistant - CertifiedProvides basic technical clinical services and clerical support in the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, physician or mid-level practitioner. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served. Complies with all federal, state, and local agency requirements and standards; and Carilion and CMG policies, procedures, and standards.Provides basic clinical care and performs advanced technical skills for patients of all ages according to established standards and appropriately documents and reports patient observations to licensed staff.Collects patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, current medications, etc. for assessment by licensed staff.Transports patients through officePrepares the patient for provider evaluation, including obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and proceduresMaintains work area, exam treatment and x-ray rooms and lab in a clean, safe manner; restocks with supplies and instruments; and sterilize reusable equipment as needed.Documents patient information in the medical record in a timely manner to include update treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, patient concerns, etc. in compliance with applicable Carilion Clinic policies and procedures.
