The Patient Care Tech/Nursing Assistant role can include one-on-one care of patients on suicide or safety precautions.Successful candidate MUST BE able to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks. The unit is often referenced as, “The Hope Unit” by the patients. As a nurse you will be part of a special multi-disciplinary team of therapists, physicians who specialize in additions, peer recovery specialists, psychiatric technicians, and many others who are passionate about helping in the recovery of patients who have often lost hope for the future. This position is full time, working 7p-7a with every other weekend and rotating holidaysThis position is eligible for a sign-on bonus when successful candidate meets applicable guidelines.As part of the health care team, the Patient Care Technician performs basic clerical and technical clinical services relating to the care, cleanliness, safety, and comfort for patients of all ages. Provides quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.Provides basic nursing care and performs advanced technical skills for specified age groups according to established standards. Assists patients with activities of daily living. Appropriately documents and reports patient observations to licensed staff.Transports patients, supplies, specimens, equipment, etc. within the facility. Contributes to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities.
