Provides quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care. Successful candidate will work three 12-hour NIGHT SHIFTS per week once off orientation.9 SPCU – This 24(5) bed telemetry PCU specializes in the care of Hospitalist Medicine patients with a focus on renal and a variety of other medical diagnoses. They serve as an alternate unit for GI, Pulmonary and other surgical/procedural patients being covered by Hospitalists. Successful candidate MUST BE able to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks. Assists patients with activities of daily living.Documents and reports patient observations to licensed staff.Transports patients, supplies, specimens, equipment, etc. within the facility.Contributes to Carilion Clinic's performance improvement activities. Actively participates in obtaining desired service line/departmental outcomes.Assists with chart audits.Participates in unit quality activities.Actively participates in unit activities and/or organization councils/committees.May lead unit huddle; participate in IDR's (unit based interdepartmental patient rounds)Provides support for department/unit staff scheduling, including covering lunch assignments.Reviews medical record for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.Assists with wayfinding, answering phones, making meaningful connections with patient and visitors.Processes equipment between patients as needed (cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment).Operates and maintains general office equipment.Leads streamlined, timely and comprehensive admission, transfer, and discharge processes keeping the patient experience as the top focus.Assists in coordination of patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Is aware of unit outcomes and metrics and promotes process improvement initiatives that add value to our outcomes and/or organizational mission.Welcomes and assists patients and visitors; assists with registration.
