Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Public Service Representative 4 position. We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented individual to join our Personal Tax & Compliance Division in the Compliance Section. This position is headquartered in our Portland office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in-state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.
What You Will Be Doing
Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.
•
Review personal income tax accounts, verify compliance, and issue official certification letters for taxpayers and partner agencies.
•
Assist taxpayers by answering questions, explaining forms, and providing guidance in person, by phone, and through written correspondence.
•
Conduct post‑processing audits of tax returns, review financial documents, apply tax laws, and issue adjustments or determinations.
•
Work with internal teams and external agencies to resolve complex tax compliance issues and support statewide tax programs.
•
Process IRS‑based adjustments, update taxpayer accounts, and prepare notices, refunds, and billing corrections.
•
Review written objections and appeals, evaluate taxpayer information, and issue clear and accurate determinations.

This Is What You Need To Qualify
Three years of experience performing public contact and/or customer service duties comparable to the work of a Public Service Representative.
At least two years of this experience must include dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services and programs; explaining rules, programs, and procedures; and/or providing assistance, explaining requirements, and gaining compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
