Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Recreation Therapist is a member of the interprofessional health care team responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services in the area of functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation to meet client’s psycho-social needs. The Recreation Therapist assesses recreation and leisure needs of clients and residents, develops treatment plans and provides or coordinates therapeutic programs/activities to meet those needs. The Recreation Therapist assists with the orientation, supervision and evaluation of support staff, students and volunteers as requested. In keeping with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) Standards of Practice, Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest’s policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times.
