The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to the CSIRO AR-PST Stage 6 project, Smart Inverters for Voltage Support in DER-Rich Distribution Networks, led by Professor Frederik Geth and Associate Professor Archie Chapman.Working at the forefront of high-renewable electricity systems, you will develop innovative inverter control strategies, undertake advanced distribution network simulation, and help translate research outcomes into national standards. This is an exceptional opportunity to build a growing research profile while collaborating with CSIRO, leading industry partners, and distribution network service providers to create meaningful impact through research translation and industry engagement.Key responsibilities will include:Research: Lead and contribute to high-quality research in unbalanced inverter control, DER integration, low-voltage distribution-network modelling, optimisation-based power flow analysis, and standards development, producing impactful publications, open-source code, and datasets.Supervision and Researcher Development: Co-supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, support researcher capability development, and foster industry and standards engagement opportunities.Citizenship and Service: Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with industry, government and research stakeholders, contribute to School and project activities, and demonstrate behaviours aligned with UQ values.Research Translation and Impact: Work closely with CSIRO, inverter manufacturers and network service providers to translate findings into proposed AS/NZS 4777.2 amendments and practical guidance for industry adoption.This is a research focused position.
