Principle duties and essential functionsDevelop innovative solutions in the fields of coherent optical transmission, optical networks, and fiber sensingLead and participate in research and advanced development projectsDemonstrate Adtran’s technical excellence at conferences/eventsTogether with external partners, acquire publicly funded projectsCooperate with customers and the research community in funded research projectsOrganize and carry out laboratory system experiments and field-trialsEvaluation of novel technologies for optical transmission systems and fiber sensing techniques leading to new Adtran productsSupplementary TasksIn addition, the Senior Engineer Advanced Technology (M/F/D) is responsible for the following tasks:Consult R&D and PLM teams on novel technologies and solutionsSupport the transfer of research R&D results into product developmentSecure the business of Adtran by contributing to intellectual property rights on novel technologies and product conceptsDrive and discuss technology trends with strategic customers and vendors Knowledge, skills and experience requiredPhD, Diploma/Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related areaMinimum 3 to 5 years of experience in optical telecommunication R&DProfound understanding of fiber optics, optical networks and digital communications is a mustHands-on experience in several of the following areas:Experimental setups with optical components and RF equipmentModulation, coding and digital signal processingModelling of optical communication systems and componentsDevelopment of prototype system equipment and field trialsDistributed optical fiber sensing Solid programming capabilitiesExcellent presentation, communication and scientific writing skillsFluent in oral and written EnglishPreferably exper...
