In this Senior Interior Components Engineer role you will be responsible for developing interior trim and systems from concept through production launch. You significantly contribute to the packaging, design, engineering release, supplier coordination, and launch of components such as instrument panels, door trims, consoles, headliners, and other interior systems. You will work closely with vehicle engineering, design, marketing, and suppliers in a fast-paced environment, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, functional performance, quality, and on-time vehicle program execution.
Responsibilities
- Be a significant contributor to a world class Interior Components and Systems engineering team
- Create industry leading Interior Components and Systems with groundbreaking luxury, craftsmanship, performance, safety, ergonomics, and functionality
- Contribute to the packaging, engineering, release, and launch of Interior Components and Systems across the portfolio
- Work collaboratively within a cross functional marketing, design, and vehicle engineering team, prioritizing overall vehicle benefit above individual systems
- Collaborate with interior trim suppliers to ensure technical excellence and on time delivery of Interior Components and Systems
- Employ and develop effective tools and innovative approaches to support product development
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience as a detail oriented Interior Components and Systems development lead (e.g., hard trim, soft trim, IP, door trims, consoles, headliners, etc.)
- Knowledge and understanding of automotive interior components and systems, industry benchmarks, trends, and supplier capabilities
- Experience creating, improving, or establishing technical product specifications and timelines to support accelerated development toward SOP
- Proficiency in CAD for 2D/3D concept drawings, interior components and systems, packaging layouts, and DFM studies (CATIA V5/V6 preferred)
