About Redwood Materials

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager of Commissioning to join our Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC) team. This EPC role is at the center of Redwood’s mission focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by providing second-life for batteries and ultimately recycling to return to future battery production.

The Commissioning Manager will work closely with members of the project management, infrastructure engineering, project controls and procurement departments from preconstruction through completion and start of production. The Commissioning Manager will manage all on-site infrastructure commissioning scopes including electrical, mechanical, controls, fire systems, etc. These responsibilities around commissioning will include scheduling of trade contractors, utility, structure, and vendor tool installations, resolving day to day commissioning challenges, performing day to day inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications while tracking project and commissioning schedule. The Commissioning Manager will also be responsible for coordinating testing and commissioning among all project stakeholders both internal to Redwood (facilities, operations, maintenance, infrastructure & process engineering) and external (clients, trade subcontractors & vendors/suppliers). The Commissioning Manager is also responsible for helping grow and administer a commissioning program for the EPC group. Commissioning experience with BESS, solar, large manufacturing, refining, wastewater/water treatment, and/or large MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems is preferred.

  • Manages all aspects of the EPC commissioning program, including commissioning agents, stakeholder coordination, and successful start-up and turnover of systems and project equipment to end users.
  • Participates in design reviews to assess and comment on aspects of systems for commissioning. E.g. valve/shunt placement for staged startup and flushing operations.
