Senior Manager, Legal Advisor, Mexico and Central America
Role ResponsibilitiesProvide legal advice and strategic guidance to Western Union business units and shared services across Mexico and Central America.Advise on regulatory, licensing, and compliance requirements, particularly those related to money transmission activities and Electronic Payment Funds Institutions (IFPEs).Partner with the Head of Business Legal (LACA), senior leadership, and internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and operational matters.Monitor, research, and analyze relevant legislation and regulatory developments, coordinating with external counsel when required.Draft, review, negotiate, and support the execution of contracts, commercial agreements, and other legal documents that enable business objectives.Deliver practical, risk-based, and solution-oriented legal advice while managing multiple priorities, projects, and confidential matters simultaneously.Lead and develop legal professionals when applicable, including resource allocation, performance management, and team guidance.Monitor, investigate, and support the resolution of legal complaints, disputes, and regulatory inquiries, working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel when required.Assess legal risks and provide medium- and long-term legal guidance to support business decisions, strategic initiatives, and regulatory compliance across the region.Role RequirementsHold a Law degree and have 6+ years of experience in a corporate legal environment, financial services, or working with international clients and regulators.Advanced English proficiency is required.Demonstrate strong issue-spotting, problem-solving, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels of the organization.Experience working in companies in the financial or payment sector or IFPE's operations (plus).Previous experience in problem solving and critical thinking are required. You’ll need leadership skills, initiative, and proactive attitude.
