The Role You'll build, optimize, and harden the pipelines and APIs that power our transition to an agent-ready release platform. In this hands-on, execution-heavy software engineering role, you will be building the release pipelines to allow both humans and AI agents to safely and consistently deploy infrastructure and application code. This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Oakland, CA office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home on Tu/Fr. What you'll do Dive deep into Gradle/Bazel configurations and our Java build graph to improve cache hit rates, parallelism, and resource utilization for our monorepo. Systematically identify and eliminate flaky tests and unstable infrastructure in our CI pipelines to ensure green builds provide highly trustworthy signals. Build automations that generate FedRAMP and other audit artifacts from our pipelines, reducing manual toil while improving our compliance posture. Shift logs and build outputs toward structured, traceable formats and implement clear, idempotent APIs to lay the groundwork for safe orchestration by future automation. Use tools like Terraform and Helm to define and evolve the infrastructure that powers our builds and deployments, managing configuration drift, health, and scaling across target environments. Drive complex release engineering projects end-to-end—including scoping, technical design, execution, rollout, and post-launch improvements—while providing technical mentorship to peers. About You You have 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on Release, DevOps, or Platform Engineering in cloud-based systems. You have strong proficiency in Java or a similar statically-typed language, and comfort scripting in Python and/or Bash. You have deep, hands-on experience with build tools such as Gradle, Bazel, or Maven at scale within large codebases. You have experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) using Terraform or similar IaC tools, alongside experience operating modern CI/CD platforms. You have strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, system design, and distributed systems, with a track record of automating away operational toil. You are authorized to work in the United States. Please note that at this time, Everlaw is not sponsoring U.S. employment visas for this role. Bonus points Experience with Open Policy Agent (OPA) and policy-as-code approaches. Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2) and familiarity with their change-management and audit requirements. Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and interest in integrating them into developer workflows and CI/CD tooling. Experience with Bazel and/or multi-language monorepos. Contributions to open-source CI/CD, release, or IaC tooling, or public speaking/writing on developer productivity or release engineering. Think you're missing some of the skills and are hesitant ...
