Shift Supervisor

Huntsman is seeking a Shift Supervisor supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Akron, Ohio. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Job Scope

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing plant operations during assigned shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production. This role provides direct supervision to plant personnel, coordinates maintenance and operational activities, supports employee development, and serves as the primary point of contact during emergencies. The position plays a critical role in maintaining safety, operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted plant performance.

In summary, as the Shift Supervisor, you will

  • Provide leadership and supervision to plant personnel during assigned shifts.
  • Communicate work assignments, priorities, and departmental objectives.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Support compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable labor agreements.
  • Manage work schedules and approve vacation requests as required.
  • Coordinate plant operations, maintenance activities, and support functions.
  • Serve as the Operations Coordinator during assigned shifts.
  • Act as Incident Commander and emergency response liaison during plant emergencies.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues involving plant utilities and production equipment.
  • Train operators on standard operating procedures and safe work practices.
  • Conduct Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) audits and support safety compliance initiatives.
  • Coordinate operator certifications and training requirements.
  • Lead daily Zero Harm safety observations and safety meetings.
  • Support emergency preparedness drills and response activities.
  • Manage housekeeping standards and support facility cleanliness initiatives.
  • Prepare work orders, reports, documentation, and performance metrics.
  • Supervise Boilerhouse operations and provide operational expertise for assigned areas.
  • Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Process Technology or a related technical discipline OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the petrochemical industry, manufacturing operations, or maintenance environment.
  • Experience supporting production operations within an industrial manufacturing environment.
