We are a global company, and our products—including mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, utility vehicles and accessories—can be found all over the world.The Sr. Principal Engineer - Autonomy will provide design, development and integration support of software architecture, motion planning, computer vision and sensor processing algorithms, graphical user interfaces, and inter-process messaging for active safety, advanced driver assistance systems and unmanned ground vehicle control systems development.YOUR IMPACT: Develop and integrate large ROS2-based autonomy softwarePerform engineering calculations, investigations, software development, hardware selection, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.Develop software unit and regression testsSupport and mentor more junior Engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.Autonomously develop and deliver small and large portions of the overall application.Support supervisor, suppliers, engineering specialists, and other departments to execute job assignments consisting of meeting specifications and performing calculations, analysis, and design.Write requirements and design documentation.Direct support of programs to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to accomplish assigned engineering programs.Other duties as assigned.Regular attendance is required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You produce high quality and maintainable C++ codeProficiency in ROS2-based software development within complex applicationExperience working on real world autonomous application as key contributorElevated proficiency with Ubuntu 22.04+ OSElevated proficiency with distributed systemsAccredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with six (6) or more years of related experience.STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS: Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering.Real world autonomy projects experience as key contributorTrack record of project leadership or innovative solutions designsCORE COMPETENCIES:Internal Contacts: Contact with peers and others involving explanation of information (these contacts may be within or outside department or division), and the gathering of factual information; may include the communication of sensitive or confidential information.External Contacts: Limited external contact to: gather information, answer queries, or ask assistance.Communication Skills: Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short c...
