Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Are you interested in the opportunity to work as a Data & AI Intern at RBC? Join the Group Risk Management – Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk (GRM-BSLR) team, which performs the second line of defense role for all balance sheet and liquidity risks at the enterprise level. The team oversees liquidity risk across RBC, managing the complexity of large portfolios of assets, liabilities, and off-balance sheet instruments at the RBC level and within individual business lines and legal entities, while helping to meet regulatory expectations for liquidity risk oversight.As a Data & AI Intern, you will help design and build innovative solutions that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to solve complex challenges in balance sheet and liquidity risk management — a hands-on role for a technically curious student eager to apply AI/ML to real-world problems in a highly regulated, data-rich environment.What will you do?Design, build, and deploy AI models (including large language models) to solve business problems and drive innovationCollaborate with data engineers to ensure AI solutions are built on a robust, scalable, and modern data infrastructureWork with business stakeholders, data scientists, and software engineers to align AI initiatives with organizational goalsUtilize the latest technologies and development tools, designing and building data and AI solutions to meet business needsConstantly seek out better ways to do things — new tools, new technologies, new processesWork on transformational projects that deliver new value to the groupBe an active contributor to your team and to the broader RBC development communityWhat do you need to succeed?Must-haveCurrently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or machine learningProgramming skills in PythonHands-on experience with AI/ML developmentFamiliarity with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environmentExcellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)Nice-to-haveKnowledge of the financial and/or risk management domainAbility to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledgeWhat's in it for you?Be part of a team leading the way in AI adoption and application for the broader group, working with the latest development toolsMentorship from experienced professionalsA collaborative team culture grounded in innovationPlease note: This posting is for a 4-months Winter 2027 Student placement with a start date of January 2027, and end date of April 2027.
