Albert Heijn said an IT incident that began Sunday afternoon disrupted its websites, apps, customer-service channels and logistics systems in the Netherlands and Belgium. In its company statement, the supermarket chain said it had taken systems offline to protect its IT environment and could not say when services would return.

At 07:00 Monday, October 12, 2026, online ordering and deliveries remained unavailable in the Netherlands. A contemporaneous Anadolu Agency report, citing Dutch broadcaster NOS and Albert Heijn CEO Margaret Versteden-van Duijn, said the logistics shutdown affected several distribution centers as a precaution. The report did not establish a separate Belgium delivery stoppage.

Physical stores remained open and checkout systems continued working, according to the company statement. Electronic shelf labels could still display promotional prices from the previous week. Albert Heijn said customers who missed personalized discounts would be compensated where possible and asked them to keep their receipts.

Mijn Bonus Box, Koopzegels, Air Miles and other personalized savings functions linked to the Mijn AH app and personal Bonus cards were unavailable. The Brussels Times reported that the incident also affected Ahold Delhaize brands Etos and Gall & Gall.

In that report, Ahold Delhaize described the event as a network-security issue. Versteden-van Duijn said the investigation was ongoing and could not confirm whether malicious actors had penetrated the systems. Albert Heijn has not confirmed a specific technical cause, attacker, ransomware demand, data theft or customer-data exposure.
