Anthropic says Claude Code Projects can now run parallel cloud sessions in a beta.

Why it matters: The update gives developers a way to split a job across multiple Claude sessions while keeping project context in one place. That may reduce back-and-forth on larger code changes, reviews and repo-wide edits.

  • Anthropic says users can describe a job once, then Claude can scope it, delegate parts and assemble the output.
  • The Verge reported that each thread runs as a Claude Code cloud session on its own branch and repo copy, with merge conflicts handled like a pull request.
  • Project memory is shared across threads, and the Library stores uploaded files plus files Claude generates.
  • The beta is limited to select Claude Pro and Max subscribers using cloud sessions; Anthropic says it will expand to Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, chat and Cowork users.

Anthropic is updating Claude Code Projects to work more like a shared workspace than a single chat thread. In its announcement, the company said users can give one instruction and Claude can break the work into parts, run those parts in parallel, review the results and combine them.

That setup matters most for software work that touches multiple files or branches. Anthropic says each thread starts with the project's files, repositories, instructions and memory, while the project's Library keeps uploaded files and artifacts Claude creates. Those details are spelled out in Anthropic's help documentation.

The Verge reported that each thread runs as a Claude Code cloud session on its own branch and copy of the repo, with merge conflicts handled through a standard pull-request style workflow. Anthropic's post did not use that same phrasing, but it did say the feature is designed to let Claude coordinate work across multiple sessions.

The beta is available first to select Claude Pro and Max subscribers who use cloud sessions in Claude Code. Anthropic said it plans to roll the feature out more broadly to Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, chat and Cowork users.

By the numbers

  • 2 tiers - Select Claude Pro and Max subscribers get the beta first.
  • 6 user groups - Anthropic says the rollout will expand to Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, chat and Cowork users.

Yes, but: Anthropic's rollout is still limited, and the company has not said when the broader expansion will finish.

What's next: Anthropic says the feature will expand beyond the initial Pro and Max beta, but it has not given a date.
