An AP-NORC poll published July 30 found public approval of Donald Trump’s handling of Iran has dropped to 28% from 34% in June.
The decline was also visible among Republicans, where approval fell to about 61% from 71% in the earlier poll. AP-NORC said the survey was fielded July 23-27, 2026, after the recent U.S.-Iran escalation and a pause in fighting.
The nationwide poll reached 1,165 adults through NORC’s AmeriSpeak Panel and carries an overall margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
The new result follows AP-NORC’s June survey, which found 34% approval of Trump’s handling of Iran and 37% approval of his overall job performance. That earlier poll was conducted June 11-17, 2026, among 3,040 adults.
A separate Reuters/Ipsos poll published July 27 found about one-third of respondents supported the war on Iran and 69% said Trump had not clearly explained the goals of U.S. military involvement.
