Bending Spoons agreed to buy Airtable for $1.28 billion in cash.

Why it matters: The deal is another sign that private software valuations remain well below their 2021 peaks. It also shows how acquirers are targeting mature B2B software firms with meaningful revenue but lower late-stage valuations.

  • TechCrunch reported the $1.28 billion cash deal on Aug. 4, 2026.
  • Axios said the transaction implies about $2.25 billion in equity value when Airtable's cash and cash equivalents are included.
  • Axios reported Airtable raised $735 million in 2021 at an $11 billion pre-money valuation, after a 2020 round that valued it at $2.4 billion pre-money.
  • TechCrunch said Airtable had about $480 million in annual recurring revenue as of June 2026, up more than 20% year over year.

Bending Spoons agreed on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, to buy Airtable for $1.28 billion in cash, according to TechCrunch. Axios said the deal implies about $2.25 billion in equity value when Airtable's cash and cash equivalents are included.

The transaction comes after a sharp valuation reset for Airtable. Axios reported the company raised $735 million in 2021 at an $11 billion pre-money valuation, following a 2020 round that valued it at $2.4 billion pre-money.

On the operating side, TechCrunch said Airtable had about $480 million in annual recurring revenue as of June 2026, up more than 20% year over year. Airtable's newsroom says more than 500,000 organizations use the product and that total funding to date is $1.36 billion.

Bending Spoons' website says it acquires and improves digital products and lists past purchases including Evernote, WeTransfer, Eventbrite, Vimeo, AOL, Meetup, Komoot and Brightcove. Its prospectus says the company has identified more than 1,000 digital businesses as potential acquisition targets and that its acquisition pipeline is at an all-time high.

By the numbers

  • $1.28 billion - cash purchase price reported by TechCrunch.
  • $11 billion - Airtable's 2021 pre-money valuation, according to Axios.
  • $480 million - Airtable's annual recurring revenue as of June 2026, per TechCrunch.

Yes, but: The reported purchase price is not the same as the implied equity value. Axios said Airtable's cash and cash equivalents lift the equity value to about $2.25 billion.
