Comp AI raised $34 million to expand its AI platform beyond compliance into real-time security monitoring.

Why it matters: The round shows investors still see room for AI tools that cut repetitive security and compliance work. It also sharpens competition in a market moving from point-in-time audits toward more continuous monitoring.

  • Comp AI announced a $34 million Series A on Sept. 17, 2026.
  • Roo Capital and Grand Ventures led the round.
  • The company says its software automates security policies, evidence collection, audit prep and control monitoring.
  • Comp AI plans to use the money to expand into real-time monitoring and control validation across applications and infrastructure.

Comp AI raised a $34 million Series A as it pushes an AI-native platform for security and compliance workflows, according to TechCrunch. The round was led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures.

The startup automates work such as security policies, evidence collection, audit prep and control monitoring. SecurityWeek reported that Comp AI wants to expand into real-time security monitoring and control validation across applications and infrastructure.

Grand Ventures said the company is building an open-source-native, AI-first compliance automation engine for lean teams. The firm also said Comp AI was already working with design partners in fintech, healthcare and infrastructure.

Comp AI was founded in January 2025 by Lewis Carhart, Claudio Fuentes and Mariano Fuentes, TechCrunch reported. The company had previously built Leap AI before shutting it down after two years and more than a million users.

In its earlier pre-seed announcement, Comp AI said it had raised $2.6 million and aimed to help 100,000 companies achieve compliance with frameworks including SOC 2 and HIPAA.

By the numbers

  • $34 million - Series A raised by Comp AI.
  • $36 million-plus - total funding after the new round, according to SecurityWeek.
  • $2.6 million - Comp AI's earlier pre-seed round.

Yes, but: Some of the strongest product claims, including design partners and prior-user counts from Leap AI, come from investor and prior-company reporting rather than a standalone company update.

What's next: Comp AI said the new capital will go toward expanding real-time monitoring and control validation.
