Bnode said Nicolas Baise will lead its Bpost business unit from Jan. 1, 2027.

Why it matters: Baise will take charge of Bpost as Belgium's postal market shifts from letters toward parcels and logistics. Chris Peeters will remain CEO of the wider Bnode group after serving as Bpost's interim leader.

  • Baise, currently Bnode's chief operations officer, will become CEO of the Bpost business unit on Jan. 1, 2027.
  • Chris Peeters has served as Bpost's interim CEO since May 2025 and will remain CEO of Bnode.
  • BIPT reported 76 letter-post items per inhabitant in Belgium in 2024, down from 199 in 2010.
  • Bnode said Chief Commercial Officer Christel Dendas and Chief Digital Officer Frank Croket will end their collaboration with the group.

Bnode announced on Oct. 23, 2026, that Nicolas Baise will lead its Bpost business unit from Jan. 1, 2027.

Baise is Bnode's chief operations officer and a member of its executive committee. The announcement said he will remain COO through the 2026 peak season before focusing on Bpost's operational and commercial priorities.

Baise joined Bnode in 2022 as chief transformation officer and became chief operations officer for the Belgium-Netherlands last-mile network in early 2025. Bnode's leadership biography says he previously worked at Boston Consulting Group, where he became a managing director and partner in 2016.

Baise succeeds Chris Peeters, who has led Bpost on an interim basis since May 2025 while also serving as Bnode's group CEO. Peeters will retain the group role. “His experience, deep understanding of the business and strong execution focus make him well equipped to lead the BU Bpost going forward,” Peeters said.

The shift comes as letter volumes decline. Belgium's postal regulator, BIPT, reported 76 letter-post items per inhabitant in 2024, compared with 199 in 2010. The figures cover the Belgian postal market, not Bpost alone. BIPT also said its “parcels and express items” category generated more than two-thirds of sector turnover.

Bnode's 2025 annual report cited digital substitution, annual addressed-mail declines in the low double digits through 2026, parcel-market competition, higher labor and transport costs, and declining government funding.

Bnode also said Chief Commercial Officer Christel Dendas and Chief Digital Officer Frank Croket will end their collaboration with the group. The announcement did not disclose departure dates or clarify whether the change concerns employment, executive responsibilities, or both. Croket will remain during a transition period.

By the numbers

  • 76 items per inhabitant - Belgium's letter-post volume in 2024
  • 199 items per inhabitant - Belgium's letter-post volume in 2010
  • More than two-thirds - share of sector turnover generated by the regulator's parcels and express items category

Yes, but: Bnode did not disclose Dendas' or Croket's departure dates or clarify whether ending their collaboration means leaving the group, stepping down from executive roles, or both.

What's next: Baise is expected to take over the Bpost business unit on Jan. 1, 2027, after remaining COO through the 2026 peak season.
