Nvidia is working with Wall Street firms on financing for more than $500 billion in AI infrastructure.

Why it matters: If the effort advances, it could shape how the next wave of AI data centers, power and related infrastructure gets funded. It also shows large institutional capital moving deeper into AI compute as an asset class.

  • The Guardian reported Aug. 11 that Nvidia is working with six major Wall Street institutions on more than $500 billion in AI infrastructure financing.
  • Axios identified the firms as Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR.
  • Axios reported Nvidia could provide a residual-value support mechanism for up to 25% of the deals, or as much as $125 billion.
  • The reporting does not confirm a finalized program or how much capital is actually committed.

Nvidia is moving beyond chips and into the financing side of the AI buildout. The Guardian reported Aug. 11 that the company is working with six major Wall Street institutions on more than $500 billion in AI infrastructure financing.

Axios identified the firms as Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR. Axios also reported Nvidia could support part of the financing through a residual-value mechanism, meaning it would help cover some of the value if the assets underperform or are sold later for less than expected.

The reporting does not establish a finalized program, and it is not clear how much of the $500 billion figure is already lined up versus still in discussion.

By the numbers

  • more than $500 billion - size of the AI infrastructure financing effort reported by The Guardian
  • 6 - Wall Street institutions identified by Axios
  • 25% - share of the deals Nvidia could support, according to Axios

Yes, but: The reports do not show that the financing is finalized or that the full amount is already committed.
