Assistant Director, Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender

Job Description:The Assistant Director, Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender (SDC) coordinates and implements programs at the SDC with guidance from the Director. This position hires, trains, and supervises the SDC undergraduate student coordinators and the Disability Student Justice Student Initiative (DJSI) graduate student and undergraduate student coordinators. This position also provides support and mentorship for the Gender and Sexuality Peer Counselors (GSPCs). The Assistant Director manages SDC events and programs throughout the year, including orientation events, open houses, and programs for Women’s History Series and manages the DJSI program. In addition, this position collaborates with other student centers in organizing annual events such as International Women’s Day. The Assistant Director manages daily operations of the SDC, which includes 6 meeting spaces, an art gallery/creative arts space, a library with over 4,000 books and materials, and a community garden. This position collaborates on gender-related programming with the staff of the LGBTQ Center, the Brown Center for Students of Color (BCSC), the Global Brown Center for International Students, the Undocumented, First-Generation College and Low-Income Student Center (U-FLi), and the Office of Military-Affiliated Students. In addition, this position helps nurture existing connections and builds and maintains newer connections with various academic departments; with the Pembroke Center, with BWell Health Promotion; and with other units on campus to work in alignment with the mission of the Sarah Doyle Center and of Brown University.About the Sarah Doyle CenterThe Sarah Doyle Center is a student center at Brown University that cultivates community and belonging through the lens of women and gender. Job QualificationsEducation and ExperienceMaster’s degree or terminal professional degree (i.e., JD, MSW, etc.) required.A minimum of 3-5 years of experience and educational training in women’s, gender, and/or sexuality studies required.Event or programming experience required.Experience in an academic setting is strongly preferred.Student supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Website development and social media management experience preferred.Job CompetenciesStrong and effective oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required.Strong computer aptitude for learning new software. Problem-solving skills required. Proficiency in spreadsheets and databases. Understanding of diversity, especially issues around gender and how gender intersects with other soci...
