The selected candidate will be responsible for participating in the measurement and warranty inspections of construction projects involving infrastructure installation and concrete and asphalt paving for conformance with plan specifications and contracts. This individual will establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, utilities, the general public, and other employees. The Candidate should be a responsible, dependable, and extremely detail-oriented individual who is willing to learn. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Valid driver’s license Must pass physical and drug screen Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the interpretation of plans and specifications in the construction of infrastructure projects Experience with measuring and inspecting HMAC and Concrete pavement and underground utilities MS Access, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro skills The Quality Control Construction Inspector I job responsibilities include: Reviews plans and specifications for the assigned projects prior to measurement and warranty inspection Observes work during progress and upon completion. Ensures that safety procedures are followed Demonstrates strong interpersonal, management, and communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to both internal City staff and the development community Completes construction project measurements, prepares daily quantity calculations including plan markups, drawings, spreadsheets, and pictures Resolves quantity differences in the contractor’s pay estimates with project inspectors and contractors Coordinates with other employees and contractors on large projects that require traffic control and surveying Completes Warranty Inspections with contractors and other employees to ensure that any defects in workmanship or materials are corrected before the release of maintenance bonds Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balan...
