Senior Staff Accountant
We are conducting a search on behalf of our client for a Senior Staff Accountant. Our client is a well-established professional services firm that supports public and private companies through a broad range of finance, corporate, and management solutions. The organization provides expertise in accounting and finance, corporate governance, business administration, corporate development, fundraising, and strategic advisory services, helping clients achieve their operational and growth objectives. Working within a collaborative and client-focused environment, the Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting, financial reporting, and client service support. Your primary responsibilities will include: Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting activities, including accounts payable, expense processing, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Prepare and review accounting entries, reconciliations, and supporting working papers to ensure accurate and complete financial records. Review the work of junior accounting staff and provide day-to-day feedback to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established procedures. Coordinate client payments, payroll processing, and statutory filings, including GST and WCB returns. Support month-end and year-end reporting, financial analysis, audit engagements, and client reporting requirements. Serve as a key point of contact for client inquiries, ensuring responsive and professional service delivery. Collaborate with senior team members on process improvements, special projects, and other client-related accounting and administrative initiatives. Other duties as assigned A successful candidate will have: 3–5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping/accounting experience, including strong experience with Accounts Payable (AP) Hands-on experience with GST filings, and ideally payroll processing Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, with experience in reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger reviews Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong command of English Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced, client-driven environment Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking High aptitude for working with technology and digital tools — strong IT skills and adaptability in a digital workplace Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team Permanent residency or Canadian citizenship is required Experience working with public companies and/or IFRS is a valuable asset Experience collaborating with external auditors, senior leadership, or within a structured team environment is considered an asset An accounting designation is considered an asset but not a requirement What’s in it for you?
