Oracle topped fiscal Q1 2027 estimates and said its backlog climbed to $664 billion.

Why it matters: Oracle remains a key public-market gauge of enterprise AI and cloud infrastructure spending. The backlog surge and revenue beat could influence software and infrastructure stocks.

  • Oracle reported fiscal Q1 2027 revenue of $19.3 billion and adjusted EPS of $1.92, both above estimates.
  • The company said remaining performance obligations, its backlog of contracted future revenue, rose to $664 billion from $638 billion three months earlier.
  • Oracle said it signed more than $30 billion in additional AI cloud contracts during the quarter.
  • Cloud infrastructure revenue jumped 121% year over year to $7.4 billion.

Oracle reported fiscal first-quarter 2027 results on Sept. 10, saying revenue and adjusted earnings both beat Wall Street estimates. The company said remaining performance obligations - its measure of contracted future revenue - climbed to $664 billion at quarter-end, up from $638 billion three months earlier. Oracle said the quarter included more than $30 billion in additional AI cloud contracts. Chief Financial Officer Hilary Maxson said most of those orders were structured as prepay or bring-your-own-hardware deals, meaning customers either paid upfront or supplied their own equipment. She also said the backlog conversion into revenue strengthened in the quarter, helping cloud infrastructure results. Oracle investor release

Cloud infrastructure revenue rose 121% year over year to $7.4 billion. Oracle also lifted its full-year fiscal 2027 non-GAAP EPS guidance to $8.10 and reaffirmed at least $90 billion in revenue for the year. Oracle investor release

Reuters reported Oracle shares rose in extended trading after the results and said the backlog figure topped analyst estimates of $639.89 billion. Reuters also said Oracle's negative free cash flow was $5.40 billion, better than the consensus estimate of negative $9.56 billion, with about $11.36 billion of capex covered by customer prepayments.

Oracle's fiscal 2027 results follow fiscal 2026, when the company said RPO reached $638 billion and cloud infrastructure revenue totaled $18.1 billion for the year. Oracle FY2026 results

By the numbers

  • $664 billion - Oracle's remaining performance obligations at the end of fiscal Q1 2027
  • $30 billion - additional AI cloud contracts Oracle said it booked in the quarter
  • 121% - year-over-year growth in cloud infrastructure revenue to $7.4 billion

Yes, but: The backlog figure is a contracted revenue measure, not cash collected, and some of the new orders were structured as customer prepayments or bring-your-own-hardware deals.

What's next: Oracle's next quarterly results will show whether backlog conversion and cloud revenue growth continue at the same pace.
