Fueling innovation and improving lives, we are committed to accelerating discovery and shaping a better world.TRIUMF's Applied Technology Group is looking to hire a fully qualified and experienced Technician who will be tasked with the maintenance, repair, improvement and calibration of the ventilation systems and related components and equipment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintenance, repair and calibration of nuclear ventilation system and componentsProvides input for proper operation and improvements of the RCA ventilation and control systemsMaintenance and repair of building systems such as ventilation, heating, domestic water and compressed air systemsIn consultation with experts, contributes to design changes and improvements to the nuclear ventilation systemPrepares and maintains work procedures for testing and calibrationDemonstrates and instructs users in the usage and operation of the nuclear ventilation systemMaintains, repairs and improves the DOC systemFollows all applicable safety regulations and is responsible for the proper implementation of these requirementsMay oversee the work of other personnel and junior-level techniciansKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Independent thinking, using initiative, sound judgment and the application of latest standards and knowledge in resolving complex design and/or operational problems is expected.Demonstrated and up to date knowledge of HVAC systems, electromechanical systems, and controls is required to solve technical problems related to complex building mechanical systems for cyclotron operationAbility to apply knowledge and experience to the design, calibration, testing and manufacturing of relevant components/systems as per operational requirementsKnowledge and understanding of control systems relating to HVAC, cooling systems and electrical power distribution systems is required to maintain system operationExperience with calibration of sensors and instrumentation used on building systemsDemonstrated ability to use specialized techniques to solve problems, and adapt and react appropriately to new situationsIncumbent must have good oral and written communication skills, hands-on mechanical aptitude and be able to work well under stressNUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:The incu...
